Walmart makes Vans shoe knockoffs, suit says

“Walmart sells the infringing shoes in its thousands of retail stores across the United States and through its online website,” Nicholas J. Hoffman of McGuireWoods LLP wrote on behalf of Vans.

Skate shoemaker Vans Inc. sued Walmart Inc. in federal court Monday, accusing the retailer of selling several knockoff versions of its shoes.

"We respect the intellectual property rights of others and take these allegations seriously. We will review the complaint once we have been served with it and will respond as appropriate with the court," said Abby Williams, spokeswoman for Walmart.
