Suit claims lead in Trader Joe’s spinach, other products

The plaintiff, Ecological Alliance LLC, is represented by Vineet Dubey of Custodio & Dubey LLP, who has become one of the most prolific Proposition 65 lawyers in the state.

Trader Joe's should stop selling five food products that contain well beyond California's maximum lead limit for daily consumption, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Wednesday.

One of these foods, Trader Joe's Super Spinach Salad, has more than 50 times the allowable limit in a single serving, according to the complaint filed in superior court under Proposition 65, California's toxic substance law.
