Newsom names aide to head embattled state utility regulator

Alice B. Reynolds, a former lawyer at large law firms, has years of experience advising governors on energy issues.

Alice B. Reynolds has been nominated as the next president of California's utility regulator, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Monday.

The California Public Utilities Commission oversees investor-owned utilities and telecommunications companies.

Subject to state Senate confirmation, Reynolds, who is a senior adviser to Newsom on energy, would take on the job Dec. 31, replacing over Marybel Batjer, who will step down...
