Lawsuit seeks to block 2nd corporate boards diversity mandate

“National Center opposes the adoption of quotas for board spots that are based on immutable characteristics such as race, sex, and sexual orientation,” Anastasia P. Boden, a senior attorney with the Pacific Legal Foundation in Sacramento, wrote in the complaint.

The National Center for Public Policy Research sued to block AB 979, a law demanding racial and sexual diversity on corporate boards. The case is the latest in a series of challenges to the law and another requiring women on corporate boards, SB 826.
