Civil suits filed against Sonoma County over inmate overdose
The lawsuits allege Amber Marcotte’s death in October 2020 was a result of failures by the sheriff’s department to implement security practices surrounding the introduction of drugs into the jail and that the jail allows staff to bring drugs into the facility.




The family of an inmate who died of a fentanyl overdose have filed civil rights actions in state and federal court against Sonoma County and the sheriff's department, demanding explanations of the circumstances surrounding the woman's death, their attorneys said Thursday.
