Aitken Cohn, Lieff Cabraser, Larson to lead oil spill class actions

After hearing pitches from several large law firms, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter chose Wylie A. Aitken of Aitken Aitken Cohn, Lexi J. Hazam of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP and Stephen G. Larson of Larson LLP to lead the class actions against Houston-based Amplify Energy Co., owner of the pipeline that spilled thousands of gallons of oil near Huntington Beach on Oct. 2.

A federal judge on Monday appointed three law firms to lead several class actions related to an oil spill off the Orange County coast in October.
