Omicron infections prompt more courts to halt or trim operations

Some of state’s busiest state and federal courts say suspending trials for a couple of weeks is required to adjust to reduced staff and fears of infections.

State and federal courts across California have suspended jury trials for at least two weeks because of the rapid rise of new COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.

Several other courts are trying to avoid disruptions to trial schedules, at least for now.
