Judge recommends Girardi be disbarred, order $2.82M fine

Judge Yvette D. Roland made the recommendation, citing multiple examples of Thomas V. Girardi misappropriating client funds and lying about the reasons.

A State Bar judge on Monday recommended that Thomas V. Girardi, a longtime titan of plaintiff litigation, be disbarred.

Judge Yvette D. Roland made the recommendation, citing multiple examples of Girardi misappropriating client funds and lying about the reasons. She cited several cases, including settlements for clients whose relatives died in a plane crash in Indonesia.
