Nation’s biggest state AG’s office to get bigger under Newsom’s budget
As of Tuesday, the department website listed almost 140 open positions, including eight posted in the previous two days. Only 60 of these jobs are for attorneys, including several for supervisory positions.




Attorney General Rob Bonta heads the nation’s largest state attorney general’s office, and if Gov. Gavin Newsom gets his way, it’s about to get a lot bigger.
The California Department of Justice would receive the equivalent of 96 new positions in the draft state budget summary Gov. Gavin Newsom introduced Monday. If Bonta is able to fill all these jobs, his department would swell to 5,768 authorized positions.
