New bankruptcy judge worked for low-income debtors

Magdalena Reyes Bordeaux was sworn in as the first Latina bankruptcy judge in the Central District of California.

After more than a decade leading Public Counsel's Debtor Assistance Project, Magdalena Reyes Bordeaux was sworn in as the first Latina bankruptcy judge in the Central District of California.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals announced the appointment Wednesday.

Based in Riverside, Reyes Bordeaux began her 14-year term in an outdoor ceremony on Tuesday. She succeeds Judge $95
