Waymo fights DMV release of trade secrets

The self-driving car company owned by Google says an unnamed third party filed a public records request to see safety data it shared with state officials.

A leading self-driving car company is trying to avoid a tough obstacle: the California Public Records Act.

Waymo LLC sued the California Department of Motor Vehicles to block a request for its application to operate on roads in the state. The complaint does not say who filed the Records Act request. But it doesn't appear to be Waymo's longtime nuisance, Consumer Watchdog.
