Take the time to set forth specific damages in your prayer for relief

It is common practice for plaintiff’s attorneys to plead allegations for tort causes of action, such as negligence, in general terms. This is typical when alleging claims for wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, and many other civil causes of action. Being purposefully vague allows the plaintiff to evolve his or her theories of liability as discovery unfolds and new facts are disclosed.
