Trial kicks off in UCLA retaliation whistleblower case
Dr.Timothy Ryan, a former vascular surgeon at the county-owned Harbor UCLA Medical Center, sued in 2016, alleging his supervisor, Dr. Rodney White, punished, marginalized, and created “an intolerable work environment for Dr. Ryan” after he refused to perform an unnecessary surgery.




In opening arguments of a whistleblower trial Friday, counsel for a former UCLA doctor said his client suffered retaliation after reporting that his boss ordered an unnecessary surgery in exchange for extra money, but the hospital's attorney said the doctor was gunning for his boss' job.
