DA races in several key counties this year could get heated

In Orange County, the top candidates are already trading vicious insults. The wildcard is billionaire George Soros, who has not said if he will again fund more progressive candidates.

While statewide elections in California have lacked drama in recent years, there will be plenty of action down-ballot -- especially county district attorney races.

The race in Orange County turned negative nearly from the outset. Meanwhile, several counties could see a person of color in the district attorney's seat for the first time.

Then there's the potential role of liberal billionaire mega-donor George Soros...
