California Senate introduces historic pay equity bill

All employers will be required to submit separate pay data reports, including the median and mean hourly rate for each combination of race, ethnicity, and sex within each job category.

On February 17, 2022, the California senate introduced a pay transparency bill that would, if enacted, be the most sweeping pay transparency measure in the country. Most notably, it requires employers with 100 or more employees to expand their annual reporting obligations to the state, which the state will subsequently publish on a website openly available to the public.
