Incompetency to stand trial could create an escape path for Girardi’s colleagues
If Girardi is found mentally incompetent, the prosecution will be faced with a glaringly obvious open chair leaving a path for Lira and Kamon to argue that Girardi controlled the firm and its finances and that they had no control over what he was doing with the funds in their client trust account.

On Wed, Feb. 1, former legal powerhouse – now disgraced and disbarred - Tom Girardi was indicted by federal grand juries in Los Angeles and Chicago based on charges that he stole more than $18 million dollars in settlement money from his clients.
