Interestingly, the engineering community advises against wheelstops because on several occasions they fail to serve a functional and standardly-acceptable purpose.

Wheelstop trip-and-fall: a different type of case

Let's start with a real-life case. A person trips over a wheelstop in the large parking lot of a well-known retail store during nighttime as she approaches her unfortunately-parked vehicle. The wheelstop appears to be slightly mispositioned as one of the ends placed between the parking spot exceeded the other end in size, and while it was painted in yellow and lighting was installed across the parking lot, the person affirms they did not see it.
