Split panel leaves asylum limit rule in place for now

The government claimed in the two months the new rule has been in effect, it has reduced illegal immigration, encouraged the use of lawful entry pathways and prevented a predicted enormous influx of migrants.

A split decision on Thursday, a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stayed a federal trial judge's order that stayed, pending trial, President Joe Biden's rule limiting the ability of people to seek asylum at the Southern Border if they crossed through another country.
