Hawaii ban on butterfly knives unconstitutional, panel says
In Hawaii, the manufacture, sale, transport and possession of the butterfly knives are barred by a 1993 state law. California has a similar law against switchblades more than two inches long.





Citing a U.S. Supreme Court case concerning the right to bear arms, a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel ruled Monday that Hawaii’s ban on butterfly knives, also known as balisongs, is illegal under the Second Amendment.
