SoCalGas to pay $71M to state fund for Aliso gas leak
The funds "will be used to address the impacts of the leak, including on local air quality, public health, and customers. The settlement recognizes that SoCalGas previously mitigated the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the leak through a $34.1 million mitigation fund," the announcement stated.




Southern California Gas Co. Co. agreed to pay a $71 million penalty Thursday as part of a settlement with the California Public Utilities Commission in connection with the 2015 Aliso Canyon natural gas leak.
The penalty will be paid into the Aliso Canyon Recovery Account created by the state Legislature, according to a news release from the commission.
