Judge urged to rule on fees, damages after Monster bought rival

Vital’s former CEO, fired after the verdict against his company, told U.S. District Judge Jesus G. Bernal that he had been left out of the loop for months and did not know this case was still active.

Attorneys for Monster Energy Co. told a federal judge that their client had purchased “substantially all” of rival Vital Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s assets last month, urging the court to quickly rule on their motion for tens of millions of dollars in fees and enhanced damages.

This development on Tuesday came almost a year after Monster Energy, represented by Hueston Hennigan LLP, was awarded $293 million in its unfair competition lawsuit again...
