Southern California lawyers file lawsuit over Maui wildfire

The class complaint filed Sunday in Hawaii's First Circuit Court names as defendants Maui Electric Company; Hawaiian Electric Company; Hawaii Electric Light Company; and their parent company, Hawaiian Electric Industries.

Lawyers in Southern California filed what is believed to be the first lawsuit over the wildfires that devastated Lahaina on Maui.

"We will devote every resource required to help our clients navigate through this catastrophe," said Graham LippSmit of LippSmith LLP, which has offices in Los Angeles and Honolulu.
