Quinn Emanuel sues LA county for fees to represent ex-sheriff

Quinn Emmanuel says it had a valid contract as outside counsel for former Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who was fighting the county Board of Supervisors’ accusations that he improperly reinstated a deputy sheriff who was fired under the previous sheriff over domestic violence allegations.

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP sued Los Angeles County and the sheriff's department to recover more than $280,000 in legal fees for representing former Sheriff Alex Villanueva in a dispute over reinstatement of a deputy.

The lawsuit, filed Aug. 10, is Quinn Emanuel's second row with the county over legal fees incurred in the Villanueva matter. The county sued Quinn Emanuel in November 2021, claiming that Villanueva did not have ...
