Proposed class of women inmates claims rampant sex abuse

“This isn’t a case of a few bad apples, we need systemic change that ensures survivors are released and receive care and that promotes safety for all those remaining inside,” said attorney Amaris Montes of Rights Behind Bars.

Nonprofit organizations sued the Federal Bureau of Prisons on Wednesday, accusing the agency of knowing and allowing rampant sexual abuse at Federal Correctional Institute Dublin, a low security prison for women.

The lawsuit proposes a class of everyone incarcerated at the prison, which houses 674 inmates, including those at a connected camp.
