Southern California isn’t meeting US air standard, suit says

Areas that fail to meet federal ozone standards must pay fees on stationary sources like refineries and power plants that emit ozone precursors, said the lawsuit.

Sierra Club and other environmental advocacy groups sued a Southern California air pollution agency, saying it failed to meet federal ozone standards and did not levy or pay fines.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District oversees Orange County and parts of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
