State high court remands Santa Monica voting case

A unanimous Supreme Court ruled that the appellate court used the wrong standard to decide the case involving minority voting rights.

Reversing a 2nd District Court of Appeal decision, the state Supreme Court on Thursday revived a lawsuit by a neighborhood association that challenged at-large elections in the city of Santa Monica as a violation of the California Voting Rights Act of 2001.
