Apple makes u-turn on right to repair laws

At least four states have passed right to repair laws since 2020, and up to 20 more including California are considering them.

Apple Inc. had long been seen as perhaps the most important opponent of the “right to repair” movement. That changed last week when the company sent a letter of support for a bill pending in the California Legislature. Recent changes to the legislation would exempt Apple and other manufacturers from liability caused by third party repairs.
