Bill aims to let strikers collect unemployment benefits

Witnesses speaking in favor of the bill included officials of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, which represents actors. Members of both unions have been striking for months.

Striking workers moved one step closer to being able to collect unemployment benefits in California on Thursday. But litigation and a deeply in debt unemployment system could still stand in their way.
