US sues Edison, tree contractor over Bobcat Fire

The complaint states, “In spite of vegetation maintenance being part of SCE’s 2020-2022 Wildfire Mitigation Plan, the tree where the Bobcat Fire ignited was known … to pose a hazard but was not properly maintained.”

The United States filed a complaint Friday against Southern California Edison (SCE) and its tree maintenance contractor, claiming that the 2020 Bobcat Fire -- one of the largest wildfires ever in Los Angeles County -- was caused by failure to properly maintain trees that came into contact with power lines.
