Senate grills judge nominee on transgender inmates

Later in the day, President Joe Biden announced he was nominating Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk E. Sherriff to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Eastern District of California bench.

A Republican senator repeatedly accused Alameda County Superior Court Judge Eumi K. Lee of lying during a contentious Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Later in the day, President Joe Biden announced he was nominating Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk E. Sherriff, who has led the Fresno and Bakersfield offices of the U.S. attorney's office since 2015, to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Eastern District of California bench.
