Bill would give courts more access to mental health records

“Allowing county agencies carte blanche to specifically search for and report to the court any information in medical records” raises civil rights and privacy concerns, said the ACLU and Disability Rights California.

Courts would have greater access to mental health records under a heavily amended state bill that advanced this week.

SB 35 would require that county mental health agencies and private health care plans provide copies of records to Community Assistance, Recovery and Empowerment Courts.
