Bill to add 26 trial judge positions goes to Newsom for approval

The problem appears to be greater than too few judge positions. There are currently 100 vacant trial court positions in California, two in Riverside County and six in San Bernardino County.

Legislation to add 26 state trial judge positions in counties with heavy caseloads cleared the Assembly and is headed to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk.

“There have been incremental legislative efforts to add judgeships, but the need is still great, especially in Inland Southern California,” Sen. Richard D. Roth, D-Riverside, who authored the bill, said in a statement.
