Google agrees to pay $93M over tracking location data

Without acknowledging fault or liability Google agreed to change its privacy practices for California users, including disclosing whether their location information is being used by advertisers.

Google LLC agreed to pay $93 million to settle a case in which the California Department of Justice accused it of surreptitiously tracking user location data even if a user has opted out of being tracked, for the purposes of geo targeted advertising.
