No stay on Baldwin lawsuit despite possible criminal case

“Based on the information provided by the parties to the court, the possibility of criminal action against Baldwin appears speculative at this time,” Los Angeles County Judge Maurice A. Leiter ruled.

A Los Angeles County judge denied a motion by actor Alec Baldwin to stay civil proceedings against him in the 2021 deadly shooting on the set of his “Rust” movie pending potential criminal charges against him in New Mexico.

The judge also quashed his subpoenas of two crew members his court filings have accused of being culpable when the gun he was holding was fired, killing the cinematographer and wounding the director.
