DA acts on threat to sue Sacramento over homeless

District Attorney Thien Ho announced in July that he had opened an investigation to determine whether Sacramento could be held accountable for creating a public nuisance by failing to administer city ordinances like clearing the sidewalks and providing legal, emergency spaces for homeless people.

After weeks of threatening legal action and asking officials to enforce ordinances against public nudity, defecation, illegal fires and blocking sidewalks, District Attorney Thien Ho sued the City of Sacramento, claiming its leaders have not taken enough action against homeless encampments around the courthouse, the DA’s office and other areas.
