Metabyte sues Meta Platforms after 'negotiations collapse'

The action adds to the wave of litigation Meta Platforms has faced over the October 2021 rebranding from its original name, Facebook Inc. The word “Meta” is widely used by technology companies.

Meta Platforms, Inc. was hit with a trademark infringement lawsuit in Oakland on Friday by a Bay Area tech company that claims there was a collapse of negotiations between the companies about an agreement to allow them to coexist in the marketplace.
