Judge orders 2 Trump Cabinet members deposed on border policy

The families had sued, seeking compensatory damages and punitive damages for former President Donald Trump's Zero Tolerance border policy, which was meant to deter additional migrants by increasing criminal prosecutions against everyone that entered or attempted to enter the nation illegally.

A federal judge in Oakland has given immigrant families bringing claims against the government for being forcibly separated at the Mexican border a chance to depose former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, marking the first time the two former officials would testify under oath for litigation on the matter.
