McKinsey agrees to pay $230M to settle 2 opioid suits
The plaintiffs accused the company of knowingly contributing to the opioid crisis by advising pharmaceutical companies on how to market and oversupply the addictive medication.
McKinsey & Co asked for preliminary approval of two settlements totaling $230 million to resolve lawsuits from school districts, local counties and cities that sued the marketing consulting firm for a claimed role in the opioid epidemic.
The cases are far from over, a plaintiffs’ attorney said Wednesday, listing several more companies that will be sued.
