H&R Block, Google and Meta conspired to monetize taxpayer data, lawsuit alleges

A congressional report published in July found that tax preparation companies shared millions of customers’ personal and financial information with Meta and Google, which used that information to create targeted advertisements.

Google, Meta and H&R Block conspired to install spyware on the H&R Block website to collect customers’ private tax return information for profit, according to the lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in San Francisco.
