The U.S. Department of Labor sued several Los Angeles poultry processing plants on Friday, claiming the companies employed minors who worked excessive hours and were forced to perform hazardous tasks.
The lawsuit came days after the federal agency revealed that it is investigating Tyson Foods and Perdue Farms, two of the nation’s biggest poultry producers, for possible child labor violations.
