Suit says PacifiCorp utility poles are treated with toxin

SUMMARY/TEASE: The complaint specifically targets Pacific Power’s Crescent City facility, claiming it discharges harmful chemicals present in treated new or used utility poles or cross-arms and treated wood waste.

Pacific Power, also known as PacifiCorp, was sued Wednesday by an environmental nonprofit that claims it inappropriately discharged toxic pollutants into waterways, causing harm to wildlife, including some endangered salmon. The utility provides power to Oregon, southern Washington and Northern California.
