GlaxoSmithKline settles 4 bellwether Zantac cases in Alameda County

The London based biopharmaceutical company denied liability in a news release Wednesday. Though it has secured a summary judgment victory against 50,000 claims in Florida federal court, the company still faces more than 4,000 other lawsuits in Alameda County from the plaintiffs attorneys and and 77,000 cases in Delaware.

GlaxoSmithKline LLC agreed on Wednesday to settle four bellwether lawsuits in Alameda County one month before trial was set to begin to determine whether the company’s discontinued heartburn medication, Zantac, causes breast cancer.
