Gov. Gavin Newsom signed 56 housing related bills on Thursday. The aim is to alleviate the housing crunch in California but it could be years before any success at spurring development is realized.
“I don’t think any one bill is going to result in getting us hundreds of thousands of units built, which is what we need,” said Ellia M. Thompson, an attorney at Venable LLP who represents developers.
