Strange bedfellows unite to oppose homeless plan

“I think everybody can acknowledge the problem with have with housing, homelessness and mental health issues. But additional debt is not the answer,” Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association President Jon Coupal said.

A slate of bills aimed at getting mentally ill homeless people off the streets that Gov. Gavin Newsom signed last week has stoked more anger among several activist groups, some who are not traditional allies. But it is unclear what, if anything, they can do to block the changes.
