Irell wins $240M patent verdict against software company
Jason G. Sheasby, an Irell & Manella partner based in Los Angeles, said the verdict is a win for small business innovation.
Irell & Manella LLP attorneys won a $240 million verdict Friday against Santa Clara-based software company Cloudera Inc. for infringing three patents from a small business.
Cloudera vowed to appeal the decision.
"We disagree with and are extremely disappointed by the decision," the company said in a statement. "We remain steadfast in our belief in our defenses in the case, and we intend to challenge the judgment."
