Equinox settles $36M wage and hour claims under trial threat

"We were focused on taking these important wage claims to trial, which is what allowed us to obtain this significant victory for class members," said class co-counsel Samuel D. Almon of Makarem & Associates.

Luxury fitness company Equinox Holdings Inc. and its workers obtained final approval for a $36 million settlement to resolve a four-year wage and hour case with more than 15,000 plaintiffs.

The judge also granted class counsel's fee request for $11.5 million. Ronald W. Makarem and Samuel D. Almon of Makarem & Associates represent the class. Porter VS Equinox Holdings Inc., RG19009052, (Alameda Sup. Ct., filed March 1, 2019).
