San Diego to pay $8M to man run over during arrest

During a vandalism arrest a police officer pinned the plaintiff to the ground in the street. An SUV then drove into the police officer, injuring him and the plaintiff, the lawsuit stated.

The San Diego City Council approved an $8 million payment Tuesday to settle claims by the guardian for a man who suffered catastrophic injuries when he was run over by an SUV while a police officer had him detained on the street.

The lawsuit filed in 2019 in federal court in San Diego, alleged 16 causes of action including negligence, battery by a police officer and several civil rights claims.
