Senator Butler gets seat on Senate Judiciary Committee, easing concerns over judge confirmations
“There is no question that this will now allow us to proceed with appointments to our federal courts. The White House has to move much faster with the coming 2024 election just ahead of us,” said Joseph W. Cotchett, who has acted as an informal adviser on President Joe Biden’s judicial choices.

California’s new Democratic senator, Laphonza Butler, will take over for the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein on the Senate Judiciary Committee, making it possible for confirmations of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees to move forward.
The recently sworn in senator shared the news through her X account on Tuesday, writing that she was “proud to be representing the people of California on four Senate committees.”
