Is Santa Monica’s opposition to zero bail a harbinger?
Los Angeles County Superior Court Presiding Judge Samantha P. Jessner announced earlier this year that cash bail would not be required for people arrested on suspicion of nonviolent and low-level crimes.

The Santa Monica City Council voted 4-3 to join a lawsuit against Los Angeles County opposing its zero bail policy, in a move some attorneys say could signal an attitude shift in liberal leaning cities.
