Bar sends Supreme Court 2nd revised ethics code

“I think it’s important in the spirit of transparency and accountability that we continuously talk about how we as a new board are turning the corner … These actions are reflective of that,” said Trustee Melanie M. Shelby during a bar meeting on Monday.

The State Bar Board of Trustees unanimously sent their second amended conflict of interest code proposal to the California Supreme Court on Monday, after the justices told the agency’s leaders to use stronger and more specific language.

The proposal by the previous board was rejected by the court as not sufficient to ensure transparency about any conflicts the trustees might have based on their financial endeavors.
